Prepared, one small step at a time
Be Ready for Emergency is an independent UK information website. We help households think through short interruptions to power, water, communications and payments, using practical steps and links to official information.
We are not the UK Government, an emergency service or the official Be Ready campaign. We do not provide live incident monitoring. During an emergency, follow instructions from emergency services, your local authority and relevant providers.
How we choose content
Our guides focus on affordable preparation and features to consider when choosing supplies. Where an article draws on external guidance, we link to that guidance and show the date we reviewed the article. Product lists are feature-based suggestions, not laboratory tests or guarantees.
